We had a blast sharing our “All about me” bags with our friends. Everyone did a wonderful job! We learned so much about our new friends. We also measured our heigh and weight, then charted our results on a graph. We learned that everyone in our class is special and unique. Thanks to all the Prepper parents-great job!
All of our friends love being able to freely explore our classroom during choice time. It’s very important to allow young children the freedom to independently explore and make their own choices, while guiding them in the proper ways to respect, care for and play with items in their environment.
We are big on outdoor experiences, and spend as much time enjoying nature as we can. We see this as a time to burn off energy, build strong bodies, and socialize and relax with our friends. Having downtime is a vital part of a young child’s development.
The Prepper class uses the Handwriting Without Tears handwriting curriculum. Our very first lesson is always the introduction of Mat Man. The curriculum uses wooden pieces of different shapes and sizes to teach children to “build” each letter before writing. This is a wonderful technique that makes understanding written language easy and fun for little ones. We first use the different pieces to construct Mat Man. This gives us a basic understanding of shape as well as perspective and the human form.
We have had so much fun learning and exploring in our new classroom. All of the older friends have been so helpful to our newest classmates. Today we worked on small group activities. Take a peek into our day!
We had a blast saying goodbye to our soon-to-be Pre-K friends. Our last day together is always bitter sweet, but water play, a shaving cream battle and making our own ice cream sundaes made the day awesome!
Today’s water day was our favorite by far!! Who would have known that a few chairs, a can of shaving cream, and a hose could make a group of children this happy?!
With summer closely coming to an end, the Prepper friends have been soaking up every warm/sunny day.
Wobbling like a penguin was harder than it originally sounded. The Prepper friends quickly became thankful for knees and the ability to pick up their feet from the ground to walk. But walking like a penguin was pretty silly.
